Focus Group 7: TBM Training

The purpose of developing a TBM Pilot certification scheme is to standardize the training process and establish an industry-wide benchmark for TBM operation. This will ensure consistent, high-quality instruction, enhance safety, and promote excellence across tunneling projects.

Ongoing projects

The first step is to develop a 5-day training syllabus for the TBP Pilot on the EPB Machine. The training is based on the experience and simulator from Bouygues. 

The next step is to roll out the Examiner course so that the TBM Pilot training can be held around the world.

Once this is accomplished, further machine types will be added in the portfolio.

Simulator Provider Collaboration

We are seeking to extend accreditation to further simulator providers. By collaborating with more simulator providers, we can enhance our trainees' accessibility to cutting-edge training tools and technologies, ensuring comprehensive and advanced training experiences.
