Handheld Examiner Certification Program
The EFNARC Handheld Examiner Training Program is a 3-day course designed to train and assess experienced shotcrete specialists, technical advisors, and trainers to become certified EFNARC Handheld Examiners.
Once accredited, Examiners are authorized to deliver EFNARC-standardized training, supervise VR simulator modules, and conduct practical assessments for handheld nozzle operators worldwide.
Candidate Prerequisites
To qualify for entry into the EFNARC Handheld Examiner Training Program, applicants must demonstrate substantial industry experience in sprayed concrete applications:
Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in underground construction, shotcrete applications, or concrete technology.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of concrete mix designs, equipment mechanics, spraying techniques (wet or dry application), and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) protocols.
Language Proficiency: Working proficiency in English (or the primary language in which the course is conducted).
3-Day Program Schedule
Day 1 - Theory & Scheme Fundamentals
Scheme Administration: Overview of the EFNARC Handheld Shotcrete Scheme, examiner responsibilities, data protection compliance, and assessment objectivity rules.
Concrete Technology: Advanced instruction on materials, admixtures, mix design parameters, accelerators, and quality testing.
Equipment & HSE: Deep dive into handheld pump operations, dry/wet spraying equipment, pressure safety, and jobsite risk mitigation.
Day 2 - Practical Demonstrations & VR Simulation
Application Techniques: Practical evaluation of proper nozzle distance, angle, thickness control, and rebound minimization.
VR Simulator Integration: Hands-on calibration and assessment practice using EFNARC-certified Virtual Reality simulators (conducted alongside certified simulator partners).
Evaluation Standard: Training on how to score and document candidate performance using official EFNARC assessment forms.
Day 3 - Formal Assessment & Certification
Candidates must pass three independent assessment components to earn their Examiner accreditation:
Written Examination: Comprehensive test covering concrete technology, spraying procedures, and scheme rules.
Practical Assessment: Evaluation of the candidate’s ability to conduct a live operator assessment and identify technique flaws.
Oral Examination: Interview before the EFNARC Assessment Board to verify teaching capability, technical expertise, and judgment impartiality.
Examiner Code of Conduct & Assessment Rules
To maintain the integrity and global recognition of EFNARC certifications, all certified Examiners must adhere to strict operational guidelines:
Unbiased Evaluation: Examiners are strictly prohibited from conducting the Module 4 Practical Assessment for candidates who are employed by the same company or corporate group.
Digital Compliance: Examiners must ensure all theory exams are conducted independently through the official EFNARC online portal and that practical forms are submitted digitally via the EFNARC website.
Data Protection: Examiners are responsible for handling participant personal data in full compliance with local and international data protection regulations (GDPR).
