Nozzle Operator training anD ASSESSMENT

Nozzle Operator Scheme History

EFNARC’s Nozzle Operator Certificate was introduced in 2009 as a standardized assessment for experienced shotcrete operators. To respond to the industry’s need for training of novice personnel and qualified nozzlemen, since 2019 EFNARC has offered both training and assessment and allowed both novice and experienced operators to attend, without taking into account their previous experience. Also, Virtual-Reality “VR” technology was introduced for training and assessment.

Until December 2022, EFNARC offered two different certifications, the historic version which included assessment only, as well as combined training and assessment under the name EFNARC. The “assessment only” certification program was phased out in 2022.

The Nozzle Operator Certificate as of January 2023

Virtual-Reality “VR” technology

The Nozzle Operator Certificate obligatorily includes Virtual-Reality “VR” technology for training and assessment.

Using this technology is efficient, cost-effective, and above all ensures a safe training environment. The use of VR enables clear and objective assessment of individuals’ performance. The Nozzle Operator Certificate, therefore, maintains consistent grounds for objective assessment of all operators. EFNARC cooperates with VR training providers to continuously ensure closeness to reality and best practice examples.

Requirements to obtain the Nozzle Operator Certificate

The Nozzle Operator Certificate is obtained after attending and passing a course and handing in proof of minimum 40 days robotic spraying experience.

In the case of renewals of certifications obtained before 2023, it will be sufficient to repeat the theory exam and hand in proof of 40 days spraying activity obtained since the last certification.
